[TRIGGER WARNING: Animal abuse] Trooper fired for abusing his K-9 may be reinstated with full back pay
State Highway Patrol officer Sgt. Charles Jones was fired in September of 2007 after video depicting him hanging and kicking his K-9 partner surfaced.
Warning: Graphic video. It depicts Sgt. Charles Jones hanging his dog, Ricoh, by the neck via a leash tied to the rail at a loading dock. The dog hangs there, hind legs barely touching the ground, while Sgt. Charles Jones kicks the dog five times. The dog’s body swings with each kick.The North Carolina Court of Appeals agreed with prior State Personnel Commission and trial court rulings that Sgt.
