I’m shocked and appauled
Just discovered that petstores are catering to the new “designer breed” status in carrying mixed dogs in their stores. I am so pissed off I can’t even breathe right now! Petstores selling mutts! OVER PRICED MUTTS!
God, I love mutts. I LOVE Gabriel, my boyfriend’s Beagle/American Bulldog mix. He is awesome-just needs some proper training. But its a mix, a mutt, nothing more. He can’t come with papers, he can’t show, he can’t be recognized by any breed society. He’s a pure, loveable mutt. A mutt you can get at the shelter for a lot less money and hassle AND you’ll be saving a life.
Why don’t people recognize this? Why do people insist on paying top dollar for mutts? You should never BUY a mutt, mutts should have an adoption fee. There’s a difference.
Ugh, I’m annoyed.
Oh yeah, pet stores jumped right on that cash cow. The second a backyard breeder bred two purebreds together, came up with a ‘cute’ name for the crossbred puppies, managed to pass them off as a ‘new breed’, and convinced ignorant people to purchase these mutts for absurd prices? Yeah, pet stores are all over this.

I agree! Many people are also shocked that I was rescued since I am a Weimaraner. They don’t realized that you can get “pure-bred” and mutt type dogs if you do some research!
